By Josh Lee
Oct 27, 2017
A rundown of everything we know about the new Overwatch spectator features debuting at BlizzCon 2017.

In the latest Overwatch Developer Update, Jeff Kaplan spoke on the new spectator features to debut onstage at BlizzCon 2017.

Team Uniform System

All heroes and abilities will now feature distinct home/away color palettes in-game.

Top-Down Interactive Map

A new tool that allows broadcasters to see all player positions and game-relevant information at once (crowd control status, ultimate charge, etc.).

Third-Person Smart Camera

A new, intelligent camera system that smooths observer transitions and automatically follows the most important events in-game.

Built-In Replays

A killfeed-based replay system that allows broadcasters to select and replay moments mid-game. Time scaling and alternate angles will be included features.

Automated Tournament Interface

Tournament organizers will be able to use the built-in tournament interface to run third-party events instead of manually adjusting custom game settings. The interface is designed to minimize human production errors and protect competitive integrity (e.g. the game will automatically pause upon player disconnect).

Where To See It

The new spectator system will be unveiled during the Overwatch World Cup at BlizzCon 2017.

Watch November 3-4.
